To encourage the participation of early-career scholars in the annual Conference, SISP offers 20 mini-grants, each with a maximum value of €200.
Application procedure
Applications must be submitted between 15 April and 29 May through the MySISP platform, attaching the following documents:
Curriculum vitae;
A copy of a valid ID document;
The abstract of the paper submitted to the SISP Conference;
For applicants who are not yet SISP members, a letter of reference from a faculty member who holds a permanent academic position and is a member of SISP.
Eligibility requirements
To apply, candidates must:
Be a SISP member in good standing with the payment of the annual membership fee, or have applied for SISP membership and be awaiting approval by the Executive Committee, or submit a membership application to SISP by the deadline for the mini-grant application. In the latter two cases, if the membership application is approved by the Executive Committee, the annual membership fee must be paid by 30 July 2026;
Have submitted a paper proposal to the SISP Conference;
Not hold a permanent academic position (e.g. PhD candidates, research fellows, contract researchers, postdoctoral researchers);
Be under 36 years of age;
Not receive other reimbursements for the same expenses. The mini-grant may be combined with other forms of financial support only for different types of expenses. Double reimbursement for the same expense items (e.g. travel, accommodation, meals) is not permitted.
Selection criteria
If the number of applications exceeds the number of available mini-grants, the Executive Committee will appoint a Selection Committee, which will evaluate the applications and establish a ranking.
Applications will be assessed on the basis of the candidates’ curricula, taking into account their academic seniority.
In the event of equal evaluation, priority will be given according to the following criteria, in order:
Age, defined by year of birth, with priority given to younger candidates;
If still tied, geographical distance between the candidate’s institutional affiliation and the conference venue, with priority given to those affiliated with more distant institutions;
If still tied, year of affiliation to SISP, with priority given to candidates who have been members for longer;
If still tied, candidates who have not received a SISP mini-grant in the previous two years.
Disbursement
The mini-grant will be reimbursed after the Conference, upon verification of actual participation and submission of receipts for travel, accommodation, and meals.
Mini-grant recipients will also be entitled to free participation in the crash courses organized in connection with the Conference.
