MATTEO JESSOULA holds a PhD in Political Science from the University of Pavia (2004), where he also graduated in 1999. Since 2006 he is Assistant Professor at the University of Milan, where he teaches Social and Labour Policies and Politics and Welfare in the undergraduate program of the Faculty of Political Sciences. He is also co-instructor of Empirical Political Theory at the Graduate School in Social, Economics and Political Science of the University of Milan, and in the past he has taught Political Science at the Bocconi University and Public Policy at the University of Pavia.
His research interests are focused on the comparative analysis of welfare systems and labour market policies, Europeanization and multi-level governance of social policies, with a particular attention to institutional and policy change.
He is involved in several international research projects and member of Recwowe – Network of Excellence of the VI Framework Program.
He is currently completing a book about pension policy in Italy, and an edited volume on “The origins of the Italian welfare state” with M. Ferrera and V. Fargion; his international research projects focus on the politics of flexicurity, the change of Bismarckian welfare states and the development of supplementary pensions.
